With the publication of the Building Handbook in 1994, the Department of Education clearly identified the range of equipment, machinery and processes located within a Technology and Design environment used by teachers, technicians and pupils. These responsibilities culminated in the Education and Library Boards organising and running a series of "Safety Training Courses for Teachers and Technicians using School Workshops". The following courses are offered as required..

  • Circular Saw & Band Saw (to operator level only) - refreshed every 3 years
  • Oxy/Acetylene Welding
  • MIG Welding
  • Metal Lathe
  • Milling Machine
  • Drill/Polisher/Linisher
  • Abrasive Wheels (to operator level only)
  • Manufacture of Printed Circuit Boards
  • Wood Turning

If you feel that you need to attend one of these courses for the first time or you think that you need to attend a refresher course (normally every five years) please contact us at the Clounagh Centre.
