2003 Interboard Science Technicians’ Conference

A total of 83 science technicians attended our 2-day event on the 23rd and 24th June 2003 in the Fitzwilliam Hotel Antrim and Omagh TEC respectively.

Participants from the 5 Boards attended as follows: SEELB 24, NEELB 23, WELB 20, SELB14 and BELB 2.

The sessions were as follows:

Laboratory Management and Administration
Tutor: Mike Bell, Deputy Director ASE INSET services
Venue: Fitzwilliam Hotel, Antrim
40 places available (43 participants)
Overall evaluation: 80% very helpful and 20% helpful

Laboratory First Aid
Venues: Fitzwilliam Hotel Antrim and Omagh TEC
36 places (23 participants)
Overall evaluation: 96% very helpful and 4% helpful

IOSH Certificated Health and Safety Award
Tutor: Jane McCallum MCP Health Promotions
Venue: Omagh TEC
16 places (16 participants)
Overall evaluation: 64% very helpful and 36% helpful

Plans are now underway for our 2004 Conference, possible dates are the 22nd and 23rd of June.
