A Health Promoting School Process

The Health Promoting School initiative sets out the following process, which is based on school improvement principles. A school will alreadyu recognise this as a way of assuring the quality of it's planning and provision of educational opportunities.

The same process is recommended to assist schools meet the established criteria and indicators for a health promoting school, and move forward in raising the quality of health promotion work.

The process in summary

1.Set up a health promoting school team
2.Conduct an audit of the school's health promotion provision
3. Using the results, set targets with a timescale
4. Create a school action plan that feeds into the school development plan
5. Implement a programme of activity to support the plan
6. Collect and collate evidence of the process and outcomes for local and regional evaluation
7. Monitor, evaluate and review
8. Contribute to dissemination of good practice
