The SELB is pleased to be able to offer Nursery, Primary, Post Primary and Special schools a range of in-service training for Beginning Teachers, Teacher Tutors and HoDs working in Induction and Early Professional Development (EPD) stages of Teacher Education.

Please note the following arrangements:

• The courses in this booklet are centrally funded.
• Beginning Teachers (code 8)
• Teacher Tutors (code 8)

• Entitlement for beginning teachers in post primary is as follows:
  
• 7 substitute cover days during one year of Induction;
• 4 substitute cover days during two years of Early Professional Development;
• Total 11 substitute cover days over three years

Entitlement for beginning teachers in primary and nursery education is as follows:

• 7 substitute cover days during one year of Induction;
• 4 substitute cover days during two years of Early Professional Development;
• Total 11 substitute cover days over three years

• Entitlement for beginning teachers in special education is as follows:
  
• 8 substitute cover days during one year of Induction;
• 7 substitute cover days during two years of Early Professional Development;
• Total 15 substitute cover days over three years.

• Entitlement for teacher tutors in post primary, primary, nursery and special education is as follows:
• Induction:
• Up to 2 substitute cover days for each teacher tutor – one day for out-centre training course if required and one day for in-school work.
  
• EPD Year 1:
• Up to 2 substitute cover days – one day for out-centre training course if required and one day for in-school work .
  
• EPD Year 2:
• one day for in-school work.
  
• Total up to 5 substitute cover days over three years.

In the event that your school has more than three beginning teacher additional substitute cover is available.

• Voluntary Grammar Schools and Grant Maintained Integrated Schools should continue to obtain substitute cover directly from the Department of Education in the usual way. .

• Travel and subsistence expenses will be available.

• I n advance of each course, a programme will be posted on this website.
