| The BBC and
the LSC have just started work
on a joint project called Get Talking
which aims to attract more adults into language
learning and encourage them to enrol with local
providers. The BBC team will be joined by Alwena
Lamping, Academic Director of the Project, to present
details at Language World on Saturday 3rd
April at 2.30pm.
As part of the project, there will be a series
of workshops for tutors in various parts of the
country in early June. The workshops will explore
ways of integrating video and online resources into
courses, with free materials specially created for
the project and designed to help tutors access the
resources more easily.
Information on the workshops and how to enrol will
be available at Language World or by emailing the
Project Manager: vanessa.norris@bbc.co.uk
Get Talking will also be active during Adult
Learners' Week in May, when the BBC is organising
a roadshow in collaboration with BBC Local Radio.
BBC buses will be touring various parts of the country,
offering free taster language lessons and a chance
to explore the BBC's language resources on TV and
online.
The aim again is to attract more potential learners
and encourage them to enrol with local providers.
A CD-ROM containing clips and details of every
BBC language course on TV and online will be offered
to anyone coming to the buses. The discs have already
been sent out to many A & CL centres and FE
colleges, but if anyone hasn't seen the disk and
would like a free copy/copies, email david.wilson@bbc.co.uk |
