‘Bonjour’ and ‘Hola’ were just some of the phrases spoken in Saint Ronan’s on 23 rd September as the school celebrated the European Day of Languages. Representatives from local schools and SELB, together with native speakers of French, Irish, Italian and Spanish took part in a most enjoyable event which was organised by Ms. Claire McCusker. Each class enjoyed a taster course in at least two languages and the children are keen to learn more. A great day was had by all involved. The celebration was very successful in raising awareness of languages and culture and has resulted in the establishment of strong between Saint Ronan’s and the language departments in the local second level schools.
