| The Literacy Team has had training in this
approach to the development of children’s thinking. Philosophy
for Children is a programme developed in USA by Prof Matthew
Lipman in the 1970s. It is now used with children and young
people throughout the world.
The techniques involve the children in questioning and discussion
around specially selected texts. We are hoping to use the
programme in schools with children (primary and post primary)
in the coming year. In the following year we hope to incorporate
the ideas and methodology in training programmes.
