Each Team or service will begin to identify strategies for the
monitoring and evaluation of its effectiveness in the promotion
of literacy across the curriculum.
CASS propose to employ the following strategies in order to evaluate
its work in the area of Literacy:
- by reviewing targets each year in relation
to levels of attainment in English at Key Stages 1, 2 and 3 and
by making comparisons with national and regional standards;
- by carrying out an annual survey of reading
standards among Year 8 pupils;
- by keeping a database of the numbers of schools
supported by CASS through INSET and school-based support in literacy;
- by monitoring the growth of parent programmes
in the Board's area.
The Literacy Policy will be reviewed regularly by all those involved
in this work in the SELB, taking account of changing needs, new
technologies and improved knowledge and understanding.
